21 Canadian Organizations Partner in the Courageous Movement
TORONTO, ON, CANADA – August 26, 2011. Tricord Media, a division of Crossroads Christian Communications (Crossroads), is pleased to announce that 21 Canadian organizations have partnered together to encourage participation by their constituencies in what is being referred to as a Courageous movement. It all begins with families and church congregations going together to watch the Courageous movie with their friends and neighbours when it launches across Canada on September 30th, 2011.
Courageous, the fourth release from of Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, tells the story of four police officers who unite to be as courageous in their homes as they are on the streets. As they grapple with the issue of absentfatherhood and fatherlessness, they decide to turn their hearts toward God and to steer their families to a renewed commitment to Christ in the home.
The following are partners in the Courageous movement:
Arrow Leadership, Compassion Canada, Crossroads Christian Communications, CTS, David C. Cook, Focus on the Family Canada, GTA Faith Alliance, Hockey Ministries International, Institute of Marriage and Family Canada, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Outreach Canada, Power to Change, Promise Keepers Canada, Prison Fellowship Canada, The Salvation Army, Scripture Union, Urban Promise, World Vision Canada, Willow Creek Canada, Youth for Christ, Youth Unlimited.
Today, fatherlessness in Canada is widespread and its effects are far reaching. Studies show that fatherless children are at a dramatically greater risk of drug and alcohol abuse, mental illness, suicide, poor educational performance, teen pregnancy and criminality. Even in homes where the father is present, he may be struggling with career, life’s purpose or marital issues. Dads are often busy and disconnected. The movie Courageous invites men to make a profound change for the sake of their families, collectively altering the future of our nation as men put into practice what fatherhood should be.
Partnering organizations send a church program planning guide to their constituencies that includes resources for small groups to further encourage those that respond to the movie.
The resources for both men and women are available from the Courageous Canada office with group ticket packages of 100 or more by calling 18558566868. General admission tickets are available to purchase from selected Cineplex theatres beginning September 16th. Visit www.courageouscanada.ca/tickets to see the list of cities where the Courageous movie will be playing.
On September 30th, 2011 Courageous will be released in selected theatres across Canada. Churches who can commit to ‘buying out a theatre’ by purchasing 500 tickets may have an opportunity to bring the movie to their city, or to hold a private showing for their own congregation.
