At Corporate Chaplains Canada our first filter in assembling a Chaplain Care Team is to ascertain the individual Chaplain’s spiritual maturity, their calling, spiritual gifts, philosophy of ministry, and Christian world and life view.
Second, we do not train the people we hire how to do Chaplain work or pastoral care. They already have a proven track-record having come from such professional backgrounds as Social Work, Professional Counseling, Psychology, Institutional Chaplaincy, Theology, or Pastoral Ministry. All of our chaplains currently hold undergraduate or masters level degrees in their respective fields.
Our training helps them transition these skills and experiences into a workplace model and process. Our requirements, application, interviews and screening ensure our Chaplains are who they say they are, and are able to handle any assignment. As a result of our Chaplain Training Program each member of our team is well equipped and oriented to meet the diverse requirements and challenges presented in the corporate marketplace.
There is classroom and supplemental training, mentoring, coaching roles, as well as apprenticeship assignments. Our Chaplain training is a continual process with ongoing seminars, continuing education, field trainings, specialty studies, and workshops held by seasoned Chaplaincy veterans held during our regular Chaplaincy retreats.
We have Chaplains with over 15-20 years of workplace experience, as well as years of other
pastoral care, upon whom we rely to impart their wisdom and experience in practical matters to newer Chaplains as well. At Corporate Chaplains Canada, we are all students who are continually developing ways to share our experiences, and to further refine our skills and knowledge, to fulfill our mission in “bringing the love of Christ to the Canadian Workplace.
