Information Technology (I.T.) is a phrase more commonly associated with business or government ventures than with Christian ministry. Technology may even seem unspiritual to some, with devices, software programs ("apps") and websites getting in the way of building real face to face relationships or distracting people from sacrificial service.
A quick scan of newspaper headlines is all that is needed to see some of the other more sinister evils that lurk in peoples emails or social networking websites. Perhaps it is safer to just stay as far away from all the baggage that comes with technology and concentrate on reaching people for Christ the old fashioned way...over a cup of coffee?
At Outreach Canada we take a different view of technology. As our world becomes more "connected" we have opportunities to share our faith and bond with other believers in ways that were unimagined even a few years ago. We can provide resources and training to people who are around the corner or half a world away. We can bring people together to talk, we can reach out to "shut ins" with a frequency that would be impossible with physical visits.
I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. I Corinthians 9:21-23
