For the Church to operate effectively, it has to be aware of not only the world around them and the needs of their community, but also the health and wellness of their own Church body and ultimately their own level of success in fulfilling the great commission. Evangelical and Mainline churches across Canada go through a number of changes every year. Membership declines and increases, attendance fluctuates, and churches develop and degenerate. Sometimes a church may reproduce itself by planting a daughter church, and sometimes the doors of a church are closed.
Information is collected on different denominations / associations and individual congregations in an effort to evaluate current church success and failure and then determine how best to equip today's church in pursuing souls.

2003 Canadian Religious Beliefs and Practices: A telephone survey conducted by the Ipsos-Reid Corporation between September 23rd and October 12th, 2003 and sponsored by the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, Focus on the Family Canada, Ontario Conference of Catholic Bishops and World Vision Canada. Andrew Grenville of Ipsos-Reid, Don Posterski of World Vision Canada and Lorne Hunter of Outreach Canada presented the initial findings at the 2003 EFC Presidents Day.
