Lorna Johnston
John Piper’s statement “Missions exists because worship doesn’t” was a pivotal concept in redirecting Lorna from ministry focused inside the church to ministry focused on those who have yet to hear about Jesus Christ. Trained as a medical laboratory technologist, the path from the lab into missions wasn’t entirely straightforward, but has proved that God’s call is certain and that all of life is preparation. Lorna and her husband Phil joined Outreach Canada in 2003 with a focus on ministry in southern Russia and although that remains her heart focus, the larger focus of mobilizing the Canadian church to effectively engage in the Great Commission is also a passion. Currently she serves as Director of Missions Mobilization at Outreach Canada, on the facilitation team for Perspectives Canada (www.perspectivescanada.org), and as a member of IPA (www.betterpartnerships.net).
Lorna is mom to three teens, Eric, Daniel & Arianna, and attends New Life Community Church. In her spare moments she enjoys gardening, reading and the outdoors.
