You will receive a charitable tax receipt for the full market value of the donated security. For further information or to arrange for security donations please call Dianne at (604) 952-0050, ext 313. Instead of claiming income as capital gains and paying the impending tax, donate them to Outreach Canada--we can easily facilitate your transfer. Please contact our Delta office for more information, or to arrange your donation. Matching Gifts Through Your Employer Did you know that there are hundreds of Canadian companies that offer matching gifts in support of the charities their employees support? Companies as diverse and large as Bell Canada, IBM Canada, Telus and Xerox offer such programs. Companies may restrict some kinds of ‘religious’ activities and set maximum amounts that will be matched, but it is certainly worth looking into. If your employer has a policy of matching gifts, it’s usually as simple as filling out a short form. All you need to know is the amount you have given to that charity in the past year, the charity's name and its charitable number (PI’s is listed on most of our literature, including this newsletter). Consult with your human resources contact or corporate giving department to see whether your company has a matching gift program. They may be able to make your gift go farther by “doubling it up!” Other Options: Donate Your Points ScotiaBank customers can donate their ScotiaBank points to Outreach Canada, by redeeming them through ScotiaBank for a Canada Helps Charity Gift Card. Once ScotiaBank issues the gift card, you can log on to the Canada Helps website (by using the link above) and designate the value of the gift card as a donation to Outreach Canada.
